Mission

This collaboration hub is dedicated to fostering interdisciplinary research focused on healthy aging. The Elderly Biobank we are coordinating offers a valuable platform to facilitate collaboration across various fields. In addition, the hub aims to strengthen educational initiatives and actively promote community engagement, all in alignment with the mission of the School of Public Health.

Key focus area: Prevention and treatment strategies to promote healthy aging.

Elderly Biobank


Developed based on the Elderly Cohort, a database with approximately 180 thousand participants from 18 territory-wide Elderly Health Centres, Department of Health.


A nested case-control study with cases of ischemic heart disease, ischemic stroke, diabetes and controls randomly selected from the Elderly Cohort.


Blood samples of approximately 3000 older (aged ≥65 years) Chinese participants.
